70-291 - Implementing, Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure.

  1. What is this course about?
    This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to implement, manage, maintain and troubleshoot a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure. Students will learn how to administer the following critical network services: Routing and Remote Access, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and IP Security (IPSec).
     
  2. What software will I get for taking up the course?
    Free, licensed copy of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
     
  3. How many hours of training for this course altogether?
    Total  = 49 hours.
     
  4. What is the prerequisite for the course?
    - Basic familiarity with fundamental networking concepts .
    - Basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2000
     
  5. What is the fee for the course?
    Total fee = RM 588
    (Training material excluded.)
     
  6. How much is the training material?
    The text book (Nicrosoft Official Academic Course) is approximately RM150. However, there are free materials provided online in the Microsoft Student Online Campus
     
  7. Learning outcomes - at the end of the course, you will be able to:
    • Configure a DHCP server by defining a scope, creating DHCP client reservations, and configuring DHCP options.
    • Manage a DHCP database by performing the following tasks: backing up and restoring, compacting a DHCP database, and reconciling a DHCP database.
    • Install and configure the Domain Name System (DNS), DNS primary zones, secondary zones and stub zones.
    • Use management tool to manage and monitor the DNS service.
    • Describe the network security protocols used for authorization, and implement security baseline settings and audit security settings using security templates.
    • Identify and explain the major components and concepts of Internet Protocol Security (IPSec).
    • Use tools to manage, monitor and troubleshoot IPSec.
    • Configure a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 to act as a local area network (LAN) router.
    • Centralize network access authentication and policies using RADIUS and IAS .
    • Monitor network traffic, troubleshoot network connectivity and server services.
    • Describe how to replicate data from one SQL Server to another.

  9. Must I sit for the exam?
    No, you can sit for the exam anytime you wish. You decide when. Please note that the course fee does not include the exam fee.
     
  10. If I don't sit for exam, what cert do I get?
    You will get a Certificate of Achievement (CoA).
     
  11. Does the course give out any homework or assignment?
    No! You will not be asked to do any homework or assignment. All lab exercises are completed within the training hours .
