Plan of Study
The plan of study for any student shall contain the subjects that the student shall register each trimester for the duration of his studies in the programme. The plan shall be formulated by the student on the advice of his academic advisor so as to ensure that pre-requisite course requirements are met, and core subjects related to the student's major and electives are included in the study plan.
Course Registration On-line
Before the semester begin, check with the faculty:
- Time-table.
- Get your Course Bulletin.
- Take note of your On-line Registration date (Please refer to the Bulletin Board)
- If necessary, meet your academic advisor to plan and get advise on your course registration.
- Take note of your credit hours (please refer to University Rules and Regulations).
- Plan your alternatives. It is advised that you may want to have an alternative in case you couldn't register for your preferred subjects.
Please take note there are some circumstances that student is advised to get your academic advisor's recommendation and the approval from the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology:
- Late offer - when student receives their offer letter after the semester begins,
- Request to carry more credit hours if the student is under probation.
During the Course Registration On-line, bring your course reference to the venue to be keyed-in. Once completed, you can refer to Course Registration Detail via this website: http://onlinecyber.mmu.edu.my/course_regis_online/index.html. Password for the website shall be provided on the registration day.
Registration for courses must be completed before the beginning of each academic trimester.
Students may register for new subjects or withdraw from a subject during the first two weeks of the trimester.
The Dean of a Faculty or the Director of an Academic Center may grant exemption from pre-requisite subjects to students, that they deem fit.
Subject Registration
Normal load of credit hours for each trimester:

Students who did not register for at least one subject in a trimester must apply for leave of absence for that trimester.
Except on extraordinary circumstances, a student shall not be allowed leave of absence for more than three (3) trimesters throughout his study at Multimedia University.
Changing Major or Faculty
Please follow the instructions below :
- Please write an official letter to the Dean and state the reason why you are applying to change major/faculty.
- Complete the change major/faculty form (You can get the form at FIT Admin Office)
- Meet your Academic Advisor to get recommendation. (The AA can sign and give his/her recommendation on your form or your letter.) If you don’t have an AA (new student), please proceed with next step.
- Submit your letter, latest transcript and change major/faculty form to FIT Admin Office.
- The Faculty will inform you of the Dean’s decision within 5 working days.
Add/Drop/Withdraw Subjects
Add/Drop should be done in two weeks time (day 1-14) after the semester begin.
Student can get the Add/Drop Form from Students Record & Admission.
Get the Lecturer's approval (signature) for each subject you want to add and drop.
Total your credit hours and get your academic advisor to approve before returning it.
Any withdrawal of registered subject(s) is allowed up to two weeks before the examination period, as long as the student's academic load does not fall below the prescribed minimum load.
Withdrawal of subject(s) can be done in stages.
- Within week 1 and week 2 after registration date, student shall be given 100% refund of tuition fee.
- Within week 3 after registration date, student shall be given 75% refund of tuition fee.
- Within week 4 and week 5 after registration date, student shall be given 50% refund of tuition fee.
- Within week 6 to 2 weeks before Final Examination, no refund of tuition fee shall be given to student.
Support and Guidance
If you need to contact any member of academic staff, you can do this either by attending their consulting hours, by leaving a written note and place into their pigeonholes, or by sending them an e-mail message.
Student can get the Add/Drop Form from Students Record & Admission. If you have any queries or problems regarding your degree programme, either with specific courses or with other academic or personal matters, there are several channels through which help can be sought. If the problem is with a particular course, see the relevant lecturer first; then your academic advisor. If the problem is more general, your academic advisor is the best person to contact first.
