To promote collaborative research efforts among foreign research institutions, corporate organisations, local research institutions, and MMU.
To design and develop 'made in Malaysia' multimedia technology tools and products.
To provide consultancy, training and expert services to national, regional and international organisations and projects involving multimedia technology.

To provide a channel for faculty collaboration with the industry on multimedia related projects.

To be involved in the development of various MSC flagship applications.

To introduce value-added applications to MSC related services and products.
