Introduction
Information technology is currently undergoing a transition
towards object-oriented and multimedia technologies. Progress
in these areas would change existing methodologies in information
technology. With developments in multimedia technologies, especially
in the Multimedia Super Corridor(MSC), new tools and methodologies
needs to be created and evaluated.
This
centre aims to focus on research and development in these emerging
technologies through collaboration with industry and government
agencies. For the MSC, development of software and multimedia
technology is important to support the flagship applications.
New software development methodologies and better multimedia
tools would increase productivity and enhance the quality of
the software and multimedia products that will be produced in
the MSC.
The
Centre for Multimedia Computing is established to spearhead
research and innovation work in the application of multimedia
tools. The technologies and methodologies investigated will
form the basis for new software and multimedia products, as
well as generate further research in leading edge technologies.
